Getting the File Open RedBuild, goto the button "Open" and search for the PSViews.dll file you'll be working on. You'll notice quite the amount of folders once in this file. Extend the PNGF Folder. Scroll down to a file named SPLASHART.PNG. You wont be doing anything with this file in ResBuild, but you did have to look at this file to make sure ResBuild reads it and places it in its Temp folder. Also so you know what file you'll be working on. Close ResBuild and locate RedBuild's Folder, the default directory should be C:\Program Files\TGTSoft\ResBuild. Go into the Temp and locate the SPLASHART.PNG file. Copy this file and place it somewhere you can work on it. Open Photoshop then open SPLASHART.PNG. |
Create a New Layer and name the new layer Background. Next choose a shade of grey (any shade is fine, but the one closest to your photoshop background is best), and fill in the Background layer. |
I went about this very simple.. since this splash page is based off a wallpaper I had made before, I used the pre-made background. I cropped the background to W:526 H:517. You can make a fresh new background if you like, but make sure you create a new layer first. |
Next we'll be cropping the background to fit into the size of the splash page. I placed the original splash image above my background layer and just used the Rectangular Marquee Tool to border around the already-made splash page, and cut out the edges. I placed the background image back over the original photoshop image. |
Now that the background is fit into the square of the original splash image, we'll be needing to Add a Guide. Do this by going to View > New Guide. In the window choose the Horizontal Option at 63%. |
We have our Guide.. we have our Background, Next we need to Make the Text Area. I really dont like this area, but I havent found a way to get rid of it. It has certain boundaries, thats what we made the Guide for. This is one way of going about the Text Area, and the easiest. Create a New layer, set your base color to white, and choose the Gradiant Tool. In the Gradiant Menu, pick the option for Base Color to Transparent. |
On your new layer, you'll want to start your gradiant from the Guide you made before, up. You dont have to go far up, just as far up as you would like the gradiant to go. You can see on the left just how things are starting to look by now. |
We created our gradiant, now we have to crop it like we did with the background image. I placed my background layer above my gradiant image for this. Use the Rectangular Marquee Tool again to crop, make sure your on the correct layer. |
Place the gradiant layer above your background layer. This is where you should be now. |
