The Brush

I dont have anything I really want to turn into a brush, so I'm going to make one from scratch. Using my 19px round brush I drew a funky symbol. this is what I'll turn into a brush.

I started off with a document 300x300 pixels high and wide.

Making the Brush

Since I want the whole document to be a brush, I dont have to select any certain areas. Keep in mind, White areas on your document will become transparent in your brush.

The more solid your color, the less transparent the brush will be. In other words, if I chose a medium grey color, my brush will be semi-transparent. But I chose pure black, so my brush should not be transparent.

To make the brush, find your menu and select Edit > Define Brush.

Naming Your Brush

Well.. mines a weird shape, so I'm going to be boring and uncreative and name my brush "Weird Shape". Hit OK.

Your Brush

You will now see your brush in the brushes area. My list is showing the large thumbnails, so in order for me to see its name I have to hover over it.

Selecting Certain Areas for a Brush

I'm going to make another brush using my same image-symbol thing. For this I have selected the Rectangular Marquee Tool.

You'll see on the left I selected certain areas, these are the areas I'm going to use for my new brush.

Again I'm going to find my menu and select Edit > Define Brush.

Naming Again

With each new brush, you have to name it. Well I guess I shouldnt say you have to, you can always use the default name it gives you.

Another New Brush

My new brush is now in the Brushes Menu. Thats all there is to it ^^
