Making a Brush from an Image ~ Tutorial ~ http://www.endlessrain.org/

In this tutorial I will teach you how to take certain things from images, and turn them into a Photoshop Brush.

Under Layer

Under your new layer with your target, create a new layer and fill in the background. My target is a dark color so I chose white. Here you can see how your brush would look if you were to transform it now.

Making your Brush Smooth

Back on your target's layer, select your Polygon Lasso Tool again. Some areas of my feather are jagid, so I'm going to use my tool to make them smoother.

I selected the areas I want to trim, and cut them from my layer (ctrl+X).

Making the Brush

I finished smoothing out my feather, so I'm going to transform it now. Using the Rectangular Marquee Tool and selected the feather (Make sure your background is white for this).

I then went to my menu, and chose Edit > Define Brush.

Naming your Brush

A box will pop up, this is where you name your brush are leave it with the default name Photoshop has selected for you.

Finished

In your brush menu you will now see your new brush! Hehe, try sampling it out (make sure you unselect your selected area otherwise you might be confused why its not working).

I sampled my brush (you can see on the left), in the color red.
