I’ve been working up the courage
To send you this today
So please read this poem through
And hear what I have to say

I don’t know where to start
I guess it started the first day of school
You walked in with your poofy jacket
And a hair style I thought was cool

Ok so that sounded corny
But I immediately gave you a nickname
I didn’t think I’d start crushing on you
But now I’m getting ahead of the game

As the first quarter past
And we were half way through the next
You began to make an impression
It had me a bit perplexed

It was toward the end of second quarter
That I finally realized
You were the only guy I got nervous around
Honestly, I was surprised

Don’t get me wrong
But it’s been a while since I’ve felt like this
I don’t know what I can do about it
It’s a little hard to dismiss

I don’t know if you’ve noticed
I’ve been trying to talk to you more
But I get discouraged when you fall silent
And wonder what I even tried for

So I wrote you this poem to say it all
Because honestly I’m scared
I’ve been told “it’ll never happen”
So I guess I should be prepared?

It’s a bit drawn out, but what I’m trying to say
Is that somehow I fell for you
I’m hoping in the best way possible
That you might, or could, feel this way too
